About Madewithmud
Hi! I'm Margie Mikliechuk, the maker behind Madewithmud. I have always had a passion for creation. Some of my earliest memories are of making lumpy ashtrays and animals with my mom at an art school in downtown Winnipeg. Some things never change. Despite having spent the better part of my life working and living around the world as a flight attendant, I always seem to come home to the clay. Strangely, following the upheavals in the airline industry after 9/11, I found a safety net in ceramics. For several years I sold my ceramics and shared my techniques in various places around the world including Nunavut, Suriname, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Now settled in beautiful Montreal, I am busy stocking my virtual and actual shelves full of dolls and doggies.

Piggies getting ready for the BBQ
These are the beginnings of my piggy magnets. To make these piggies, I roll out a slab of clay, impress patterns with my homemade rolling stamps, and cut the shape with a cookie cutter. The piggies will be fired twice, with glaze colour added in the second firing. A strong magnet will be glued to the back, and there you go, you have your piggy magnet.
Fresh off the Grill (well, out of the Kiln)
Here are the piggies just out of the glaze firing. I am so happy with them, especially the ones in red pyjamas. Take a look at all the piggies; there is a cute boy in tighty whities.
